Research Interests
- Psychophysics of human visual perception.
- Motion perception (see Motion aftereffect homepage)
- Perception and action
- Visual illusions (with Dr A. Kitaoka@Ritsumeikan Univ)
- Attention and perception
- Vision and haptic information (with Dr H Ando@ATR)
- Functional imaging of human visual brain (with Prof. A. T. Smith@RHUL)
- Mapping of motion stimuli in the visual cortex
Demonstrations
- Visual search of 2nd order motion: Demo program for Windows
- Be careful! This program may freeze your computer.
- Timing is rough.
- Rough gamma correction. Push [Test] in the upper left and adjust the two squares to be the same luminance.
- Motion-related localisation bias (motion GIF)
- The central patch does not appear to align with the other two. Larger effect with peripheral viewing.
- Illusory motion in static images
- Ouchi illusion (Ashida, 2002; Ashida, Kitaoka, & Sakurai 2005)
- Neural signal delay (Kitaoka & Ashida, 2007)
- Rotating Snakes (Murakami, Kitaoka, & Ashida, 2006)
